Seventh Wave Systems Ltd
Seventh Wave Systems is a City-based financial software company. It offers an innovative tool that allows investment professionals to easily manage reports from multiple research providers.
Following a phase of company restructuring, Seventh Wave Systems wanted an independent assessment of its IT infrastructure.

My main responsibility was to analyse the company’s systems and provide technical advice to the managing director. I also acted as an interim network infrastructure manager. We achieved the founder’s goals of streamlining the company’s technology with a skeleton crew and extremely tight budget.
The Centre for Filipinos
The Centre for Filipinos (CF) is a UK-based non-governmental organisation. It was set up to help Filipinos enrich the quality of their lives in the UK, and maintain their distinct and unique cultural identity.
Information consultant, Mar 2003 to Jan 2008
Between May 2004 to Jan 2005, CF wanted to review its processes for managing information and find out how to improve knowledge sharing between staff and service users. With the help of staff and other volunteers, I identified important areas where information could be shared more effectively.
I was on the charity’s management committee during this period and worked on a pro-bono basis.
Asian Departments of Trade and Industry
These were East Asian and South East Asian governmental bodies responsible for representing trade interest in their country. They wanted advice and opinion on different areas of the IT Industry.

I was part of a two-person consulting team offering guidance on an ad-hoc basis. We researched topics on their behalf and arranged meetings with companies in the private sector.

This company is one of the UK's leading brand management companies, developing brands in the fashion, sports and outdoor markets. It was in the process of outsourcing some IT infrastructure and wanted an independent advisor to help in the process.

ITOCHU Corporation
The ITOCHU Corporation is Japanese trading company has been in the Forbes top 10 largest (by revenue) international companies for several years running. Its business spans many industries including oil, textiles, satellites, IT services and software.
One of the company’s UK businesses was investing in European IT and mobile technologies. It was also bringing Japanese technology to Europe.

I was part of a two-person consulting team offering business and technology insight for top-level management. We provided monthly reports for technologies and companies in their area of interest. After the management targeted a company, we made contact and accompanied them during exploratory meetings.

My Role as a CMG consultant, Advanced Mobile Solutions Team
As a consultant under CMG's Advanced Mobile Solutions team, I worked with several leading mobile operators. Only a brief summary of some projects are included to keep the details confidential.
Developer, Location Based Services for web and WAP
An operator developed a platform to collect information about a mobile user’s geographic location. It enabled innovative location based services over web and WAP browsers. I was part of a development and testing team adding new features to the platform.

Developer, Intranet Database
An operator needed a Knowledge Management Database for mobile device features. The application needed to publish its data as web pages on the company’s intranet. I designed and developed the database using Microsoft Access. VBA modules were used to output web pages.

CMG plc
CMG was large Anglo-Dutch IT services company providing management and IT consultancy. Its SMS Service Centre and WAP Service Broker was used by mobile operators around the world. CMG became LogicaCMG after a merger with Logica in 2002.
Consultant and Team Leader, Feb 2001 to Apr 2002 (full-time employee)
I was a consultant in CMG’s Advanced Mobile Solutions team, specialising in systems and software development for mobile services. CMG assigned me to a wide range of projects for mobile operators Orange, Vodafone and Hutchison 3G (known as ‘3’ in the UK). These included development and consulting-based work, either as a team leader or team member.
Summary of projects:
- Involved in the development of an advanced Location Based Services engine. Solution is designed to track mobile users and pass location information to third-party applications.
- Produced a wide range of technical studies, including investigation for a 3G Network Operator’s Application Enabling Platform.
- Consultant for the development of a Knowledge Management tool to improve information sharing throughout the organisation.
- Investigated cutting-edge technologies and their implications for next-generation mobile devices. Areas included Java MIDP and WAP 1.2 specifications such as the Wireless Identity Module and Wireless Telephony Application.
- Responsible for WAP-over-GPRS technical feasibility studies for a Managed WAP Gateway.
